Matt, Aamir, and Abdulhafeez attended the MRS meeting in Seattle, Washington, from April 7-11, 2025, where Aamir gave a talk on the potential of stacked CVD-grown MoS2 monolayers as high-specific-power photovoltaics for space applications. At the same time, Abdulhafeez presented a poster focused on the prospect of adaptive metasurfaces based on a phase transition material as a transmissive spatial light modulator. The oral presentation title was “Stacking CVD-grown MoS2 monolayers for high-performance 2D optoelectronics,” while the poster title was “Pixelated Control of Tunable VO2 Metasurfaces.” Afeez won a best poster award at the symposium “Emerging Material Platforms and Fundamental Approaches for Plasmonics, Nanophotonics and Metasurfaces.” The group also met with group alumna Thalia and enjoyed a dinner together. We wrapped up the trip to Seattle with a ferry ride to explore Bainbridge Island.
