Owen is a graduate student working on a Master’s in Materials Science and Engineering. He’s from Burlington, Vermont, and grew up snowboarding and climbing. He spent two summers working on airplanes back home: one summer doing maintenance on General Aviation aircraft as an apprentice, and one working on the flight test team on eVTOL prototypes at BETA Technologies. He has several hours in fixed-wing and rotorcraft. Over the past two summers, Owen has worked at Lockheed Martin Space on power beaming field demonstrations and other advanced laser research. His past work in the group includes 2D materials for PV and the rooftop concentrated solar project, and he’s now working on a thesis project on CMOS compatible light emitters from 2D materials. Outside of Tulane, Owen likes playing piano, cooking, cycling on the river trail, and CrossFit.
