Dr. Yaping Ji and Luke Artzt published their paper as joint first authors on a hybrid concentrator photovoltaic-thermal system that can cogenerate electricity and heat by concentrating light onto photovoltaic cells and a high temperature thermal receiver. The solar cells are cooled via direct flow of silicone oil across both their top and bottom surfaces, a new cooling technique that enables transmission of infrared light through the cells and solar module. The system is beneficial in commercial and industrial applications. Read all about it here.
